A Modern Kitchen Renovation on a Budget

This kitchen was a delight to transform. My client wanted the space to feel fresh and inviting, but did not want to do a complete renovation of the entire room. After a few discussions about styles and colours that she liked, we settled on a colour scheme and began the work. I suggested painting the ceiling a fresh coat of white to brighten the room. This part of the job immediately made a difference in the amount of natural light permeating the room!

After the ceilings were painted, the walls were dressed with a new coat of white that had a slight grey tint to it. The skirting boards and architraves were painted with a lighter shade and the cupboards and island got a new coat of dark grey to contrast the light colours of the room. The handles on the cupboards were replaced with a new modern-look handle, the benchtops replaced with a white laminate bench, some concrete pendants added above the bench and some custom shelving from Allan Tyers all made the room come together harmoniously! My client was open to many suggestions along the way and we both agreed that some industrial stools with a timber seat would match the room perfectly. Overall we were both very pleased with the outcome.
