Living in a rural area can often present challenges with relying on tank water. When my client first contacted me, she was concerned that the large corner spa bath in her bathroom consumed too much water and took too long to fill so it never got used. She wanted a fresh bathroom that was practical for their tank water living conditions.

After playing around with a few design options, I discovered that I could give her a larger shower, and still incorporate a better sized bath for the room that is appropriately suited. By swapping the vanity and shower positions in the room, I was able to increase the shower size from 900mm to 1200mm and also increase the vanity to a 1500mm size. It was a win-win situation.

Something I loved about this job is that although my client wasn't sure of what products she wanted to put in the room, she was able to articulate what she didn't like. This made the job easier as I was able to start narrowing her tastes down to a style that she was happy with. Her only requests were that she have a timber look vinyl floor to match the rest of her home and the decisions about the tapware and basin. She was open to tile choices and we found an encaustic tile that suited her country-look bathroom perfectly! The tiling surrounds only the wet areas in the room so the pattern is not overwhelming- just the perfect amount to be pleasing on the eyes!

Something that makes me excited as a designer is when my client wants to step outside the norm and try something different. In this case, my client wanted a vanity that had country charm and couldn't find anything in the bathroom shops that gave her that feeling. She was open the idea of finding a country sideboard and turning it into a vanity. I sourced this beautiful sideboard and it was the perfect missing piece to the puzzle!

Overall my client is very happy with the style and practicality of her new bathroom. What a great space to start and finish each day!
