The Frog Tile Bathroom

In one of the first conversations I had with my client about this bathroom, I was told that he was gifted a tile with frogs on it that he would like to incorporate into the bathroom somewhere. The tile was special to him and initially he was going to hang it on the wall as a piece of art separately, however after a few discussions we realised we could make it quite the feature in the room if we put it into the shower recess. I purposely made it high in the recess so that when bottles of shampoo were placed in the nook, the little frog heads would still be seen peering over the top! The end result was quite beautiful and such a fitting bathroom for a man who spends so much of his life volunteering and working in nature.

Another feature of this room is the epoxy resin flooring that was completed by Jeremy at Everything Epoxy in Warragul. My client wanted a floor that was continuous, with no grout lines and something that would be easy to clean. The epoxy flooring was the perfect answer to this request. The old slate tiles were removed, the floor topped up with concrete and the epoxy floor layered over the top. The outcome fit perfectly with the colour scheme of the surrounding tiles and really brightened up the room.

The tapware was chosen to match the other bathroom of the house, the wall hung vanity made the room feel spacious and the large, inset mirror cabinet allowed for plenty of storage.

My client was also very easy-going with tile choices. He was open to lighter, larger tiles. His only request was for a green trim to top the tiles so that the green of the shower niche would tie in with the rest of the room.

The layout of this room is also something I changed. I moved the toilet to the back wall of the room so that it is no longer the first thing you see when you walk into the room. This allows for more privacy, and makes the vanity and mirror a far more pleasant sight to see when the door is open.

A new coat of white paint on the ceiling and a complimentary colour to the tiles on the walls and the room just beamed with a fresh, crisp look. Overall this bathroom was perfectly suited to my client and is now a much brighter and inviting space to start and finish each day.
